1937 Cadillac Series 60 Sport Coupe

For consignment, a 1937 Cadillac Series 60 sport coupe showing 1,837 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car combines the elegance of one of America’s premiere luxury brands with a more modern drivetrain that truly puts the “sport” in Sport Coupe!

Exterior

Look up opulence in the dictionary and you might find a photograph of a Cadillac, particularly from the 30’s, at a time when if you saw this rolling down the street, it emitted fumes that smelled like money. Beautiful two stage Sudan Blue covers the sweeping lines of the elegant ride, from the pronounced fenders and vented engine covers to the rounded roofline and cascading trunk lid and tail. While the LED headlights are housed in elongated, bullet shaped cones, the tail lights exist in an art deco case, and both are painted to match the body. In profile, dressed for success with 15-inch chrome wire wheels and white wall tires, the car’s front end lurches forward as the tail plants itself, as if pushed by the wind, and the occupants sit high in the rounded control tower. The stunning design would not be complete without a stately grille and epic hood ornament, the flying lady, one of the most photographed ornaments in the car world. The trim, metalwork, and paint are in fantastic condition and no imperfections were found.

Interior

A breathtaking blend of saddle leather, tan carpet, and the Sudan Blue window frame greets welcoming eyes as you open the door, and the leather is perfectly applied in both smooth and pleated panels. This soft saddle leather covers the split bench seat up front beautifully and is used to line the rear jump seats with padded and pleated components. Rear occupants are surrounded by soft, beige walls and tweed lining on the back of the front seats. A wood rimmed banjo style steering wheel wears the Cadillac crest on the center cap and leads to a spectacular blue dashboard with art deco trim, billet knobs, and cream colored vintage style gauges. The tweed floor coverings are lined with saddle trim, the headliner is clean and beige, and the truck is finely finished with tweed and leather and presents in show worthy condition, like the rest of the car.

Drivetrain

Behind the engine covers is a 454ci V8, clean and tidy and looking right at home. It’s fueled via a 4-barrel Holley carburetor and is mated to a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to a Ford 9″ axle with 3.50 gears and Equalock. A/C is onboard and of course, the car runs on a 12 volt system.

Undercarriage

We’re talking show quality underneath as well where everything is spotless and uniformly black, including the dual exhaust and Dynomax mufflers which terminate through chrome tips under the rear bumper. Power drum brakes are employed front and rear and suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back.

Drive-Ability

We go from 1937 to 2025 with the turn of a key as the Cadillac bellows out an exhaust note they could have only dreamed about in the 30’s, and rolls smoothly on the test loop where it provides 2025 level performance in terms of power, acceleration, braking, and handling. It does so from a comfortable and lavish interior. We note all functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

This near flawless build combines classic styling with a modern and powerful engine, exquisite paint, and a stunning interior. There are shade tree builds, and then there are meticulous, complete, and professional creations, and this one is clearly the latter. We can’t wait to meet the lucky new owner and watch this beauty leave our confines. Until then, we’ll try not to drool on the paint.
